The Sunshine Coast is an area that stretches 180 kilometres northwards from Vancouver, encompassing parts of the coastal mainland and numerous small islands which litter the Strait of Georgia. This is a haven of tiny coastal communities, scenic inlets and rolling, forested hills, and, much to the delight of the locals, the area has managed to stay relatively off the main tourist route making it one of British Columbia’s best kept secrets. Perhaps for this reason it is home to more artists per capita than any other part of Canada and has a rich First Nations heritage meaning that a unique selection of arts and crafts galleries and studios awaits you. It is also an excellent spot for outdoor activities. The sheltered waters provide an ideal playground for kayakers and boaters alike, and the rolling hills and provincial parks offer a range of hiking trails to suit all abilities.
