In winter Sun Peaks Resort is a mecca for snow sports but the mountainous landscape also lends itself to a great array of activities in summer as well. A ride up to the top of the Sunburst Chairlift gives you access to 16 walking trails, from gentle walks through flower-filled meadows to more strenuous hill climbs and alpine summits. The mountain also doubles up as a bike park and in summer the ski lifts elevate cyclists up to the top of a network of downhill trails; bikes can be rented locally. Additionally, Sun Peaks is home to a very unique experience – Mountain Cross Cart – whereby non-motorised go-carts are used to speed down a 512 metre course with a few twists and turns along the way. Nearby McGillivray Lake is a great spot to rent a canoe or kayak and take to the water, and for those who wish to brave the cool water, also offers safe swimming. Horse-riding, golf, Segway tours, horse-drawn carriage rides and tennis are also available meaning that there really is something for everyone in this lively resort.
