Day 1
Depart the UK for Vancouver today. Make your way to your accommodation and enjoy the rest of the day familiarising yourself with this diverse and vibrant city.
Day 2
Spend the day exploring Vancouver. Make the most of the Trolley Bus and visit Stanley Park as well as the Vancouver Lookout for great views over the city. Alternatively, Granville Island market is a great place to enjoy some local food and watch the world go by.
Day 3
Board the famous Rocky Mountaineer this morning and start your journey east, through the arid Fraser River Valley as far as Kamloops. Choose from either SilverLeaf or GoldLeaf level - either way, the service is excellent and you won't be disappointed.
Day 4
Re-join the train today and continue your journey, passing along the more fertile route of the North Thompson River and through the Yellowhead Pass, with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains as you approach Jasper.
Day 5
Today you enjoy a half day tour which takes you to some of the most scenic spots around Jasper National Park such as Maligne Canyon and Medicine Lake. You reach Maligne Lake and board a 1.5 hr cruise to the famous 'Spirit Island' viewpoint where you find spectacular, uninterrupted views of the mountains.
Day 6
Today you take a guided tour along the beautiful Icefields Parkway to Banff, one of Canada’s most beautiful drives. Stop at the many viewpoints along the way, take a ride in a specially adapted vehicle on to the Athabasca Glacier, and enjoy the views from the glass-bottomed Skywalk.
Day 7
This morning you join a guided tour of Banff which takes you to several viewpoints around the town, such as Tunnel Mountain Drive and 'Surprise Corner', and includes a ride on the Banff Gondola - the views from the top are incredible! Enjoy the rest of the day with free time.
Day 8
Depending on your flight departure time you may have a couple of hours in Banff this morning for any last minute souvenir shopping. Later on, take a bus transfer to Calgary Airport for your overnight flight home.

This is a simple but classic itinerary in to the majestic Rocky Mountains. Start with a full day to familiarise yourself with Vancouver then experience a fabulous two-day rail journey to Jasper at the top end of the Rockies. Do some sightseeing here then take a guided tour along the iconic Icefields Parkway – considered one of the most scenic drives in Canada. You arrive in Banff and have a day to explore here before flying home from Calgary. This is a great option for those who prefer not to drive whilst in Canada.
